The Division of Cardiology and the Peter Munk Cardiac Centre at University Health Network (UHN), a University of Toronto (U of T) teaching hospital, are seeking applicants for the Toby Hull Chair in Fibrillation Research. The successful candidate must hold, or be eligible for, a full-time clinical (MD) or status-only academic appointment within the Temerty Faculty of Medicine, U of T, at the rank of Associate or Full Professor. The term of the Chair position is 5 years with the opportunity for one 5-year renewal following successful review. Position start date is January 1, 2025, or at a mutually agreed upon date.
The Chair must have an established international record of accomplishment in basic, translational or outcome-based research in the area of atrial or ventricular fibrillation. The candidate will be expected to lead a research program in electrophysiology with a focus on fibrillation research. Ability to leverage large data sets for computational or artificial intelligence (AI) based research will be preferable. Preference will be given to applicants with a research focus aligned with priority areas of the Peter Munk Cardiac Centre, such as AI, digital health, and atrial fibrillation. The Chair will expand on existing internal and external collaborations, support fellows in training, and academic research.
We welcome applicants working in any research domain directly relevant to electrophysiology in the area of atrial or ventricular fibrillation. The successful candidate must have a strong research focus and hold either an MD or a PhD in a related discipline with significant expertise in cardiovascular research. Applicants who are practicing clinicians must hold or be eligible for licensure in the province of Ontario. The candidate’s excellence in scholarly achievement should be evidenced by international collaborations, obtainment of research grants, peer-reviewed publications, and success in mentoring trainees. A track record of excellence in collaborative science and leadership is essential.
