As Information Security Officer, you will join our ISO team and report to the CISO. You will be responsible for the implementation, upgrading and monitoring of the University information security and related risk management program. You will provide technical input and advise to the CISO, and the management of the University of Luxembourg, and support the CISO to ensure the university information and data are owned, controlled, and processed in respect of integrity, confidentiality, and availability requirements, across all areas of the University of Luxembourg.
Your role
Strategic activities:
- Implementation of the university’s overall information security strategy
- Support in aligning information security initiatives with business objectives and risk management priorities
- Provision of strategic guidance on information security matters, on the latest security threats and trends, recommend security enhancements, and guide the response to security incidents
- Collaboration with IT teams to integrate security measures into systems, conduct regular security audits to ensure compliance with the strategy, and provide training to staff on new security protocols
Policy Development and Compliance:
- Establishing and enforcing information security policies and procedures
- Keep abreast of changes in the regulatory landscape impacting information security
- Regularly review and analyse changes in information security regulations and adjust the university’s strategy as needed
- Develop and update security policies in an Information Security Management System (ISMS), communicate them to all employees, and monitor compliance
Security Awareness and Training:
- Assist in the development and delivery of information security training programs
- Foster a culture of security awareness among all employees
- Develop training materials, conduct training sessions, and assess the effectiveness of the training program
Security Architecture and Technology:
- Evaluate and select security technologies and tools
- Design and implement a secure technology architecture
Security Operations:
- Handle the regular security related requests on a daily basis
- Conduct vulnerability scans using tools like Nessus to identify and assess vulnerabilities in networks, systems, and applications
- Perform and coordinate penetration testing on networks, applications, and web services to exploit vulnerabilities and assess the impact
- Analyze and triage security alerts from various detection systems
Your profile
- Master’s degree in computer science, Information Security, Information Systems or related fields, or equivalent by work experience
- 5-8 years of relevant working experience
- Experience in an academic setting (University or research institute) is an asset
- Having a robust professional network is a plus
- Demonstrate collaborative teamwork, approach cooperation diplomatically, and show sensitivity to the needs and emotions of others
- Good organizational skills
- Fluency in English and French (in written and oral) are mandatory. Good understanding of German and/or Luxembourgish is an asset
- Able to work in an international, multidisciplinary, and multicultural environment
