Scientific project manager
The Institute of Molecular and Clinical Ophthalmology Basel (IOB) is seeking a highly motivated and versatile scientific project manager.
IOB is a research institute combining basic and clinical research. Its mission is to drive innovations in understanding vision and its diseases and develop new therapies for vision loss. It is a place where your expertise will be valued, your abilities challenged, and your knowledge expanded.
Reporting to the head of the Ophthalmic Translational Research Group at IOB, you will support the collaboration between IOB and its newly established spin-out company. In this dynamic environment, you will coordinate complex scientific collaborations, manage diverse stakeholder relationships, and support our research operations. We are looking for someone proactive and thoughtful, with an action oriented approach. You should be sensitive to others' motivations and show a strong sense of responsibility towards IOB's mission.
Your position
As a scientific project manager, you will:
- Maintain clear and effective communication channels among all stakeholders (IOB, spin-out company, CDMOs, external sites etc.)
- Serve as the contact point for our Budapest site responsible for manufacturing and preclinical studies
- Provide logistical support (e.g. with shipping, customs, and permits)
- Organize and support complex experiments involving multiple stakeholders
- Provide support for presentations and study documentation (e.g. editing, proofreading, archiving)
- Assist in the management and sharing of data to ensure accurate and efficient data handling
- Provide support in fostering and establishing further industrial collaborations
- Assist with budgeting and expense tracking for research projects
Your profile
- Academic educational background, ideally in life sciences (University level)
- Experience in scientific project and stakeholder management, preferably in a biomedical research setting
- Ability to understand and communicate scientific topics clearly and concisely
- Excellent written and oral communication skills both in English and German
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills when interacting with internal and external stakeholders at all hierarchical levels and always ensuring confidentiality requirements
- Solid knowledge of typical office IT programs and willingness to learn new tools
- Excellent problem-solving skills
- Proactive, organised, engaged and highly independent approach
- Hands-on, team-player mentality
